Mute With a Bullhorn

There's a mute with a bullhorn
He wants so badly to scream
He's in love with Maria Callas
He sings with her in his dreams

A senator goes to the circus
The elephants are eager to please
He's handing out ballots and pencils
There's a time and place for democracy

Everyone needs to be heard
There are some that will need to be found
We don't always know how

He grew up on this mountain
Now, he's diggin' it up for coal
The foreman's daughter is pregnant with his baby
It's the only job he'll ever know

A blind man with a brush
Paint the trash he finds on the streets
The art collectors love his work
And fetch money that he'll never see

We all need to be heard
There are some that will need to be found
But we don't always know how

Diggin' through the garbage
A beggar finds the precious stones
He's been lookin' for a way to thank Jesus
So he sends them to the Vatican in Rome
